Directives of the Kenpo Unification Church
Members of the church seek spiritual enlightenment and a closer bond with the universal energy of the divine Creator. The
unification of Mind, Body, and Spirit through the study of Kenpo, spiritualism and the martial arts as well as observation
of the fundamental laws of nature is the primary means to achieve this end.
Membership in the church is open to all individuals without regard to race, creed or other religious affiliation.
Tolerance of other religions and spiritual faiths is expected of all church members. In order to foster this we may study
of the works of these other faiths; including, but not limited to, the Holy Bible, the Quran, the Torah, the teachings of
Buddha and any other works deemed appropriate by the Presiding Elder.
The family is the fundamental unit of the church. It is the responsibility of parents to nurture and teach as well as
reinforce the teaching of the church to their children, as they are the light of tomorrow. Any gathering of the family presents
an opportunity to fulfill this directive in the service of the Creator.
Scholarly endeavor in diverse subjects is encouraged and should be pursued by the followers of the church with the intent
of developing a broadened understanding of ourselves and the world and how we may best serve the divine plan of our Creator.
The church may, at the discretion of the Presiding Elder, provide direct support for such endeavors.
Rendering aid to the sick or injured and the downtrodden is a most important directive of the church. All members are
expected to provide humble service, without expectation of remuneration, to fulfill this directive. The church may, at the
discretion of the Presiding Elder, provide any necessary support to achieve this directive.
A church member may be selected by the Presiding Elder for ordination as an Elder of the church and will thus become responsible
for teaching the doctrine of the church. Additionally, an Elder may serve in administrative capacities for the church as may
be required from time to time. A church Elder may voice opinion regarding church affairs, but remains subordinate to the Presiding
Elder at all times. Any final decision regarding church policy and/or action is solely at the discretion of the Presiding
Elder.
An Elder of the church performs his/her duties without regard for or expectation of remuneration, although the church
always reserves the right to compensate an Elder for services rendered. This shall be at the discretion of the Presiding Elder.
Additionally, the church may provide reimbursement or direct payment for expenses incurred which relate to the conduct of
any business of the church. The Presiding Elder shall maintain all financial records of the church.
An Elder of the church may choose take a vow of poverty at any time. The vow of poverty is not to be interpreted as being
forever poor, but rather to sharing everything in common. Those who embrace a vow of poverty do not claim private ownership
of any possessions: everything they have is used for the common good of the church. In return for the services and any income
of the Elder, the church will provide the Elder, and his/her dependents, with all their material needs. This may extend to
housing, transportation, food and clothing, healthcare and any other service needed to maintain physical, emotional and spiritual
health.
The church retains its sovereign right to determine its position and action regarding any issue not specifically addressed
within these directives, at any future date, as may be deemed necessary and appropriate by the Presiding Elder.
